About Us

history

Elsie’s Barnyard was established in 2022 to serve families in Ellsworth and surrounding communities.

As parents of a child with special needs, we know the only thing different about raising a child with special needs is there is just…. MORE. More appointments, specialists, medications, phone calls, stress, fear, anxiety, and everything takes a little more time. But with that you also gain MORE. More empathy, respect, compassion, patience, kindness, and most importantly, more love.

We believe families like ours who are dealing with more also need a little more, which is why we have created Elsie’s Barnyard.

Frank and I met in Afghanistan in 2010 while serving together in the Oklahoma Army Nat. Guard. We got married in 2011 and left Oklahoma in 2012 and proceeded to build our dream home and grow their family (and hobby farm) on the outskirts of Ellsworth, WI. Frank is a Cyber Security Investigator for Huntington Bank with the privilege of working remotely. He serves as a Warrant Officer in the MN Nat. Guard, an EMT with the Ellsworth EMS, and most importantly the 9U little league baseball coach. I’m a Pierce County native and received my BS in Animal Sci. from UW - River Falls, relocated to Okla. where I served in the US Army and obtained a Masters of Agriculture degree from Oklahoma State University. I’m now blessed to stay home and spend most of my time homeschooling the kids and managing all aspects of the hobby farm.

As a family we are active in our church and 4-H club. The kids share my passion for animals, especially riding horse, gardening, and spending time in nature. The boys get their enthusiasm for baseball and golf from Frank.
